Croatia, beautiful on all sides

The it renewed interest by Croatia is being fruit, in great measure, of the mouth to mouth. The people returns delighted of a country that surprises: more large than seems in the maps (as extensive as Ireland or Swiss) and, above all, modern; with a population (4.5 million) hot and open, to half a road among the Central European severity (inheritance, as many buildings, of the Empire Austrohúngaro) and the Mediterranean sensuality (Adriatic, to be exact).



With a growth predicted for this year of the 5.6% (and some indices of inflation or similar unemployment to the Spaniards), the country that invented the tie feels fully European and its capital, Zagreb, only is not a good starting point to explore the country, but a city that traps. It is and is not large (grazes the million, ¡but that is one fourth of the country!) and, above all, commode results and abarcable, even visually: up, cornered against the mountain, is the medieval, high city; down, the modern city, cuadriculada, full of parks and greenness. Both parts, high and low, they are separated by a main artery, Ilica, and a central plaza, that of the ban (or virrey) Josip Jelacic, old camps of market, to the outskirts of the medieval precinct, and today logistic center of the urban commotion.



For the visitor, alien to purchases or bureaucratic paperwork, is the entrance to explore the high city. That in reality they are (or they were) two different cities, both walled, separated by a stream: Kaptol and Gradec. Kaptol was the religious center (the name drift of capitulum, clerical assembly in latin) and there the cathedral is raised. The primitive Romanesque temple was redone in several occasions, above all after the earthquake of 1880, that damaged seriously to Zagreb. The two towers neogóticas, of the 19th century, themselves codean with solid towers of the medieval fence and baroque buildings, that do of the plaza of Kaptol one of the most brilliant spaces.



Be as fuere, is almost necessary to visit Croatia once in your life. Perhaps it is not recognized as a too tourist country, but you will see as many things can do once be there. You can obtain cheap flights from Madrid.
