30 kilometers of the city of Rennes, a place exists where the fantasy and the reality play behind the trees, being left to see so alone by the most imaginative and fervent visiting. It is a forest in which one sees what wants to see. An old medieval kingdom does not expect if we permit us to see it. Discover it is all a challenge for the imagination, without doubt helped by the mythical environment of place and the abundant histories that circulate in the air. The most unreal place of the reality is called “The Forest of Broncéliande” and in spite of exist not, has been the inspiration of many writers and place of worship for the admirers of the legend of the king Arturo.
The real name of the forest is “The Forest of Paimpont” and occupies 760.000 hectares of the Britain French. The spirituality of the place been present in this fantastic corner of the Magician Merlin, the King Arturo and the Round Table. Many respond to this place in search of the old medieval histories and has for them the status of sacred. It is certain that by the characteristics of the forest, would seem that was charming and is there when the stories and legends charge life in the mind of who they visit it.
The fantasy begins for the lakes of the forest. The mirror of the fairies -Miroir-aux-fées-, with a good dose of imagination becomes the place of rest of fairies and elfs. In the Church of Tréhorenteuc, the Christian and Arthurian symbols are intermingled in their stained-glass window where the apostles congregate around the Holy Grail, the reason of the fight of Arturo. The Valley without Return is another of the places of daydream. After various fires, in 1991 the artist François Davin built the Tree of Gold, a beautiful brown one of gold. Five black trees, they serve of memory of the forest cremated. This also it is the place of the Tomb of Merlin, where various visitors leave him tributes and candles lit. Other mythical places very visited are “The Source of Barenton” and the “Lake Comper“. The Castle of Comper is the center of expositions of the Arthurian Center.
